TAMàNA Sustainability Actions and Impacts

Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. From responsible waste management to eco-conscious holiday packages, we ensure that every journey respects Madagascar’s cultural and natural heritage. By sourcing locally made products, we celebrate craftsmanship while supporting communities.
As a Travelife Partner, we uphold global sustainability standards, continuously innovating to minimize our carbon footprint, empower local communities, and protect Madagascar’s rich biodiversity. Our commitment goes beyond best practices—we’re setting a new benchmark for responsible travel on this extraordinary island.

DONATIONS

In 2023, we adopted Rohy, a 5 meter long male tagged whale shark.
Why did you adopt Rohy?
Simply because we wanted to support the Madagascar Whale Shark Foundation (MWSP). Whale sharks are undoubtedly a source of income for Nosy Be, and in recent years there has been a strong craze for these megapters. These animals are also under increasing pressure from tourists and local operators. If their observation is not supervised and organised, they could find themselves in danger and no longer come to these waters for their annual migration.
MWSP conducts research to improve our knowledge and understanding of whale sharks, as well as training local operators, helping to develop a sustainable observation charter, and taking children out to sea so that they can discover these giants of the sea and create a bond with them.
Tamàna is delighted to be associated with this project and hopes that the adoption of Rohy will be just the first step in helping to conserve marine species in Madagascar.
